Know Your Nodes was launched in Canada to celebrate World Lymphoma Awareness Day in 2006. In 2007, Know Your Nodes continues to grow in Canada and is launching globally as an initiative of the international Lymphoma Coalition in almost 30 countries around the world.
The Know Your Nodes campaign was built on the insight that people know little about their lymphatic system, and in turn, lymphoma. In an international survey conducted by the Lymphoma Coalition, nearly three-quarters (74 percent) of people did not know lymphoma was a kind of cancer and less than half (49 percent) knew anything about lymphoma at all. Despite the fact that lymphoma has increased an estimated 60 percent since the 1970s in Canada, many Canadians don’t know very much about lymphoma.
