Comprendre l\u2019approche \u00ab attente sous surveillance \u00bb au sujet du lymphome. Certains patients ayant re\u00e7u un diagnostic de lymphome non hodgkinien indolent (\u00e0 croissance lente) ou de leuc\u00e9mie lymphocytaire chronique ne pr\u00e9sentent pas de sympt\u00f4mes ou d’autres facteurs de risque indiquant la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 un traitement imm\u00e9diat. Ces patients sont suivis de pr\u00e8s selon une approche surnomm\u00e9e \u00ab attente sous surveillance \u00bb ou \u00ab observer et attendre \u00bb ou encore \u00ab surveillance active \u00bb. L’attente sous surveillance ne signifie pas pour autant qu\u2019il n\u2019y a rien \u00e0 faire; le processus demeure actif. Cette approche comprend des visites r\u00e9guli\u00e8res chez le m\u00e9decin, des tests de laboratoire et des examens d’imagerie de la tumeur (ex. : tomodensitogramme), mais le patient ne re\u00e7oit pas de traitement \u00e0 moins que le cancer ne progresse ou que des sympt\u00f4mes n’apparaissent. L’attente sous surveillance a pour avantage de retarder la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 pour les patients de recevoir des th\u00e9rapies anticanc\u00e9reuses \u00e9prouvantes, aux effets secondaires potentiellement dangereux, lorsque le traitement risque de ne pas offrir de meilleurs r\u00e9sultats.<\/p>\n

Cette s\u00e9ance vous permettra de mieux comprendre en quoi consiste l’approche de l\u2019attente sous surveillance.<\/em> Elle vous fournira \u00e9galement des informations importantes pour guider vos prochains \u00e9changes avec votre m\u00e9decin et vous aidera \u00e0 composer avec les impacts psychosociaux de cette approche.<\/p>\n
