Although people with CLL are more likely than others to have a family\u00a0member with CLL or with another type of lymphoma, it is not an inherited\u00a0disease. Most people who have a relative with CLL will never have\u00a0CLL themselves.<\/p>\n
Some studies suggest that certain environmental factors might play a\u00a0role in the development of CLL, including exposure to some chemicals\u00a0(herbicides and insecticides).<\/p>\n
Monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis (MBL) is diagnosed when patients have\u00a0a small number of cells with the characteristics of CLL cells in their blood\u00a0and do not have any CLL symptoms or signs of lymph node, spleen or\u00a0liver enlargement. A small percentage of these patients will go on to\u00a0develop CLL.<\/p>\n
It is important to remember that even if you have one or more risk factors,\u00a0you will not necessarily develop CLL. In fact, most people with risk factors\u00a0never develop the disease and many who are diagnosed have no known\u00a0risk factors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
