J\u2019ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 abord\u00e9 le sujet dans l\u2019un de mes blogues (mon article le plus populaire gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la s\u00e9rie t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9e d\u2019animation <em>Pinky and the Brain<\/em>). Cela fait un peu plus d\u2019un an que j\u2019ai termin\u00e9 mes traitements de chimioth\u00e9rapie, et m\u00eame si je sais maintenant comment mettre une lettre \u00e0 la poste (je ne plaisante pas, il m\u2019a fallu des instructions d\u00e9taill\u00e9es pour y parvenir durant mes traitements), mon cerveau est encore un peu dans le brouillard. J\u2019ai beaucoup de mal \u00e0 me souvenir de certaines conversations, \u00e0 me rappeler des d\u00e9tails, et ma capacit\u00e9 de faire plus d\u2019une chose \u00e0 la fois n\u2019est plus ce qu\u2019elle \u00e9tait. Si je perds le fil de ma pens\u00e9e \u2013 c\u2019est termin\u00e9, je ne peux plus revenir en arri\u00e8re. J\u2019ai oubli\u00e9 une foule de choses que je savais auparavant, comme l\u2019intrigue d\u2019un livre, des notions de base en biologie, des acronymes courants. C\u2019est honn\u00eatement tr\u00e8s triste et extr\u00eamement frustrant.<\/p>\n<p> Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est commun\u00e9ment appel\u00e9 \u00ab&nbsp;brouillard du cerveau&nbsp;\u00bb ou \u00ab&nbsp;cerveau chimio&nbsp;\u00bb, et un grand nombre de survivants du cancer passent par l\u00e0. Certains m\u00e9decins reconnaissent le probl\u00e8me, d\u2019autres refusent d\u2019y croire, ce qui est ridicule, car lorsqu\u2019une femme de 29 ans, dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e d\u2019une universit\u00e9, ne sait plus comment mettre une lettre \u00e0 la poste, avouez que \u00e7a ne va plus. Comme ce probl\u00e8me est multifactoriel, il est difficile d\u2019en comprendre la cause. La combinaison de m\u00e9dicaments aux effets tr\u00e8s toxiques, la fatigue, la d\u00e9pression, le stress \u2013 chacun de ces facteurs peut entra\u00eener des d\u00e9ficiences cognitives, et si vous en faites un joli petit paquet pour un patient atteint de cancer, c\u2019est le bordel.<\/p>\n<p> Plus t\u00f4t cette semaine, des scientifiques, r\u00e9unis lors d\u2019un congr\u00e8s de radiologie, ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 une \u00e9tude dont les r\u00e9sultats font \u00e9tat de <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">modifications des fonctions c\u00e9r\u00e9brales chez les personnes atteintes du cancer du sein qui subissent des traitements de chimioth\u00e9rapie<\/span>. Enfin! ON NOUS DONNE RAISON. Les sceptiques ont-ils \u00e9t\u00e9 confondus? Nous sommes en quelque sorte compl\u00e8tement d\u00e9boussol\u00e9s. Essentiellement, il semble y avoir une activit\u00e9 anormale dans une r\u00e9gion du cerveau qui influerait sur la capacit\u00e9 d\u2019accomplir des t\u00e2ches multiples, de planifier, sur la souplesse mentale et sur l\u2019attention soutenue (si je ne me trompe pas, cette r\u00e9gion serait le lobe frontal, n\u2019est-ce pas les neuroscientifiques?). M\u00eame si l\u2019\u00e9tude portait sur des femmes atteintes d\u2019un cancer du sein et que leur chimioth\u00e9rapie diff\u00e8re des traitements administr\u00e9s aux \u00ab&nbsp;lymphomaniaques&nbsp;\u00bb, il s\u2019agit malgr\u00e9 tout d\u2019une merveilleuse d\u00e9couverte. <\/p>\n<p> Ainsi se termine mon article le plus branch\u00e9 \u00e0 ce jour. J\u2019aime comprendre ce qui se passe, m\u00eame si cela n\u2019aide pas mon cerveau \u00e0 mieux fonctionner. Cela fait du bien de savoir qu\u2019on a enfin trouv\u00e9 des preuves \u00e0 cet effet.
