Scientific Programs & French Engagement Coordinator – Position Summary
The Scientific Programs & French Engagement Coordinator supports the development, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based educational resources and programs for Canadians affected by lymphoma. Reporting to the Manager of Patient Programs, Research and Advocacy, this role is primarily focused on scientific content development, patient inquiry response, survey design and analysis, and coordination of national education initiatives.
A key function of this role is strengthening the organization’s engagement within Canada’s Francophone community. Professional fluency in French (written and spoken) is required, as this position plays a central role in developing French-language resources, supporting French-language webinars and conference programming, and representing the organization at Francophone events.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
Lymphoma Canada is currently seeking a dynamic individual who will assist in the management of the organization’s scientific programs and deliverables. Reporting to the Manager of Patient Programs, Research and Advocacy, the Coordinator role will include but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
Scientific Content & Resource Development
- Draft, review, and update patient education materials to ensure medical accuracy and alignment with current lymphoma standards of care.
- Develop and adapt educational resources in both English and French, with particular emphasis on French-language materials.
- Translate complex medical and scientific information into clear, accessible language for patients and caregivers.
- Coordinate medical review processes with scientific advisors and subject matter experts.
- Maintain version control and documentation of approved materials.
- Contribute to the development and dissemination of key scientific messages and all lymphoma/CLL related publication materials, including journals, educational materials, emails, social media captions/posts
- Conduct literature reviews to support updates to existing resources and the development of new scientific materials for lymphoma and CLL patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to creation of scientific website updates;
Patient Inquiry Response
- Respond to patient and caregiver inquiries (primarily via email and virtual platforms) in both English and French.
- Provide evidence-based, non-clinical information regarding lymphoma subtypes, treatment options, clinical trials, and supportive care resources.
- Escalate complex clinical questions to appropriate medical advisors as required.
- Track inquiry themes and identify emerging education gaps to inform future programming.
Survey Development & Reporting
- Design patient and caregiver surveys to assess unmet needs, education gaps, treatment experiences, and program feedback.
- Support distribution of surveys through digital platforms.
- Analyze and synthesize survey results into clear summary reports, dashboards, and briefing documents for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Translate survey findings into actionable recommendations for program development.
- Assist in the dissemination of feedback surveys and prepare submissions to the Canadian Drug Agency (CDA) and Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) related to lymphoma and CLL drug reviews;
National Conference & Webinar Coordination
- Assist in planning and coordinating the organization’s national lymphoma conference, including agenda development, speaker coordination, logistics, and post-event evaluation.
- Support the development and execution of educational webinars in both official languages, with a particular focus on French-language programming.
- Prepare bilingual speaker briefing documents and program materials.
- Coordinate post-event evaluations and reporting.
- Identify and engage Canadian specialists to deliver high-quality educational programming for patients and caregivers.
Francophone Community Engagement & Representation
- Represent the organization at relevant Francophone health events, conferences, and community forums across Canada.
- Support outreach initiatives to increase awareness and access to lymphoma education within French-speaking communities.
- Ensure educational programming reflects the needs and perspectives of Francophone patients and caregivers.
- Serve as the internal lead for scientific communications directed toward Canada’s Francophone population;
Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with Fund Development and Communications teams on scientifically accurate messaging for fundraising campaigns.
- Support dissemination of fundraising initiatives within the Francophone community.
- Promote research funding opportunities to Canadian investigators
Environmental Scanning & Scientific Monitoring
- Monitor developments in lymphoma research, therapies, and clinical practice.
- Track updates emerging from major hematology and oncology meetings such as the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
- Prepare plain-language summaries of emerging research findings for patient audiences.
- Maintain up-to-date competency in lymphoma and CLL related medical trends;
- Assist in the development and dissemination of Media / Press Relations / Public Statements with regards to research and the fight against cancer;
- Updating scientific databases to increase communication and collaboration with key stakeholders, knowledge opinion leaders, pharmaceutical partners, and institutions serving lymphoma and CLL patients;
This role does not provide medical advice but delivers evidence-informed, non-clinical educational support consistent with the organization’s mandate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in life sciences, health sciences, public health, or related discipline (Master’s degree considered an asset).
- 2–4 years of experience in the Canadian healthcare sector; health education, research coordination, patient advocacy, or a healthcare organization.
- Scientific communications experience
- Knowledge of oncology or hematology (lymphoma experience strongly preferred).
- Experience developing surveys and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data is an asset.
- Experience supporting conference or webinar planning is preferred
Required Skills and Competencies
- Professional fluency in French and English (written and verbal) — required.
- Ability to write and edit complex medical content in French with precision and clarity.
- Demonstrated empaty and sensitivity when engaging with patients and caregivers navigating their illness.
- Strong analytical skills with experience synthesizing data into clear reports.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project coordination abilities.
- Ability to exercise judgment when responding to patient inquiries.
- Comfort representing the organization publicly within Francophone settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual event platforms
- Proficiency in conducting literature searches using scientific databases (e.g., PubMed).
- Willingness to work flex time and evenings to support fundraising events, educational sessions etc., as required (minimal)
- Ability to work in a hybrid setting
- Occasional travel may be required,
