During your job search, you may wish to consider the group health insurance plan that is offered as this may be an important factor in your decision-making process. Some group plans do cover existing cancer conditions so be sure to examine these documents carefully.

Also, while searching for or transitioning to a new job, understand that you cannot be refused health insurance under your employer’s health plan because you are a cancer survivor. However, once you start a new job, it is important to complete all health insurance forms as soon as possible.

It is helpful to gain an understanding of your federal and provincial rights for workplace health insurance.
