Lori Hygaard – Primary Registered Nurse, Regional Cancer Care Northwest, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre

Lori Hygaard is a member of Lymphoma Canada’s Nursing Advisory Board and was awarded LC’s 2017 travel grant to attend the Canadian Conference on Lymphoproliferative Disorders (CCOLD) in Lake Louise, Alberta in March.

After graduating from Confederation College’s Nursing program in 2003, Lori started working in cancer care almost immediately, first as an in-patient nurse then as a nurse in the chemotherapy out-patient clinic. Currently, Lori works in the Ambulatory Outpatient Cancer Centre in Thunder Bay, ON, where she is the Primary Nurse for Dr. Nicole Laferriere, the Hemophilia Co-ordinator nurse for North-western Ontario and co-lead of a sexual health clinic for oncology patients.  In 2014, Lori received the Human Touch Award that is given out annually by Cancer Care Ontario and received the President’s Award from Confederation College. Outside of work, Lori is a mum of 2 children, enjoys traveling, and spending time with her family.
