Join our survivors, families and friends and make a difference at take it to the mat 2015

TORONTO, August 11, 2015—take it to the mat, The Great Yoga & Wellness Revolution, is a full day fundraising event where participants gather to practice yoga or meditate while supporting Canadians living with lymphoma.

Lymphoma Canada was inspired to create take it to the mat to raise awareness about lymphoma while encouraging mindful living and a healthy lifestyle. Lymphoma is the fifth most common cancer in Canada and more than 100,000 Canadians are living with lymphoma. Carolyn Van is one of them.

Carolyn’s story began a little over a year ago in March of 2014 when she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 28 years old.

“Last year, my sister introduced me to Lymphoma Canada. She joined take it to the mat and started fundraising in my honour,” said Carolyn Van. “The organization made such a difference in my life; their resources are extremely helpful and whenever I need information, I know where to turn.”

“I’m on the tail end of my treatment and I think I can call myself a survivor because I am surviving this battle,” continued Carolyn. “take it to the mat is a great way to support Lymphoma Canada and this year I’m feeling well enough to participate. I look forward to giving back to this community and have already started fundraising to reach my goal.”

Lymphoma has the fastest rising incidence rate of any cancer among young adults. There is no known cause or prevention, only hope for a cure. You can learn more about Carolyn’s story on her blog, by watching her video and chatting with her at take it to the mat.

take it to the mat 2015 will take place in downtown Toronto on November 15, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Glenn Gould Studio and Barbara Frum Atrium. Funds raised from the event support a variety of research, education and support programs, as well as furthering Lymphoma Canada’s mission of empowering patients as they navigate through their patient journey.

So join the revolution…and take it to the mat!
