Lymphoma Canada promotes health and wellness through an invigorating Toronto fundraiser

TORONTO, July 7, 2015—take it to the mat, The Great Yoga & Wellness Revolution, in support of Lymphoma Canada, is back for the second year in a row. The event will take place in Toronto on Sunday, November 15, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Glenn Gould Studio and Barbara Frum Atrium.

“The inaugural event exceeded all of our expectations with over 200 people in attendance to help raise $150,000 in support of patients with lymphoma and their families.” said Robin Markowitz, chief executive officer, Lymphoma Canada. “take it to the mat 2015 will be a memorable day of healing, inspiration, energy and transformation as participants gather together in downtown Toronto to practice yoga or meditate and learn about how happiness can improve well-being, while championing an important cause.”

A host of local Toronto experts in yoga, meditation and the science of happiness, including MC Bryce Wylde and keynote speaker Louisa Jewell, will join participants for this inspirational day. Musicians Normando Jones and Lana Sugarman will enhance the 108-minute yoga and meditation sessions with their melodies and vocalist Roveena will entertain the group during a delicious lunch. Sarah Horgan, a lymphoma survivor and Toronto native, will also share her incredible story.

“We chose Toronto as the place to host take it to the mat because we wanted to rally some of Canada’s most active and passionate citizen’s to our cause,” explained Roz Baker, national director of signature events, Lymphoma Canada. “We also want to leverage the diversity and growth of Toronto to showcase that lymphoma can strike anyone, no matter age, gender or race.”

Lymphoma is the fifth most common cancer affecting Canadians and has the fastest rising incidence rate among young adults. Currently over 100,000 Canadians are living with lymphoma and there is no known cause or prevention, only hope for a cure. All funds raised at take it to the mat 2015 will enable Lymphoma Canada to further its mission of supporting Canadians living with lymphoma: Hodgkin, non-Hodgkin and CLL.

Event sponsors include: Aroma Espresso Bar, Equitable Bank, JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa, President’s Choice, PSAV, Revitasize Juice, Carillion Hotel & Spa Miami Beach, The Ritz-Carlton Toronto, Starbucks and Zenergy Communications.

So join the revolution…and take it to the mat!
