What was once classified as either Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma is now known to be more than 60 unique subtypes. But what does this mean for patients?

Join Dr. David MacDonald on World Lymphoma Awareness Day to discuss the importance of knowing your lymphoma subtype.

According to a new global study of people living with lymphoma, too often patients aren’t getting the critical information they need to understand their cancer subtype or make informed decisions about treatment or care. The Lymphoma Coalition’s 2016 global patient survey reports one in four patients was not aware of his or her lymphoma subtype at the time of diagnosis and nearly half didn’t understand the characteristics of their subtype. Without this understanding, patients may be unaware of their specific diagnosis and unable to find information or make informed decisions about treatment or support. For the 60 per cent of patients who report doing online research, many don’t know what subtype to search for and could be finding inaccurate information.
