Holiday! Celebrate!

I just spent 6 days in sunny Fort Myers, Florida – and it was soooo goooooood!

The flight there last week was a little horrendous – delays, thunderstorms, rerouting, late arrivals – but it was worth it to get to Florida. My friend Jessica and I were staying at the place of two of my favourite people at a beautiful country club. I got to live here for a week…

The place was absolutely stunning, and so incredibly peaceful. It was nice to be able to relax and take life slowly for a change.

I didn’t realize how much I needed that until I was actually there. It’s amazing how quickly everything that I had been through over the last year went to the back of my mind. I didn’t have to think about having cancer, about planning things, about running all the time. It was the most relaxed I had been in a very, very long time.

Cancer sucks, but the beach doesn’t (especially when you wear enough sunscreen to protect a small nation 🙂 Oh my goodness, there’s something about salt water that just makes everything better!

I’m incredibly grateful and blessed to have friends who made this vacation possible – God knows I needed it.

I highly, highly recommend it to any other patients out there – if you CAN take a break, please do. It works wonders. You’ll leave feeling more like a superhero…
