  7. Post team pictures and messages of encouragement.
  8. Remind your individual team members about the unique incentives for reaching specific fundraising targets. Choose a catchy team name and begin your team selection. Motivate each other to stay committed, raise funds, and have fun.  Statistics show that teams raise approximately 20% more than an individual on their own.

TIPS TO CREATing A DYNAMIC TEAM

  • Minimum of five individuals on a team but no maximum.
  • Develop a unique team page, and write your team values and goals. Add photos (a team photo) and inspiring quotes to motivate your team and donors.
  • Make a list of family, friends & co-workers to approach to join your team. Let them know that the take it to the mat website has lots of tips and tools to assist them in their efforts.
  • Write a compelling email to entice people to join your team.
  • Send out announcements when a new person joins your team!
  • Each individual needs to have a fundraising goal.
  • Select a Fundraising goal and incentive for each team member to achieve and enjoy the same reward together. Aim for each individual to raise to raise $2,000 and plan a spa day at Spa St. James at the Ritz-Carlton, Montreal. If your team wants to join the take it to the mat Yoga & Wellness Weekend Retreat at Eastman Spa, Spring 2017, then this will require each team member to raise $3,500. Your fundraising efforts will be rewarded at different levels. Remember, one reward per person. These are just two examples of the incentives offered.
  • Once individual goals are set, create a fundraising target for the team and update your team’s target as new people join or when people exceed their fundraising goal.
  • Regularly communicate with motivational emails and promote fundraising efforts to keep the group reaching toward their own goal and the team’s goal.
  • Create a LinkedIn, Facebook and email group.
  • Sign your emails with your fundraising team name and link to your fundraising page.
  • Ask your company to match your fundraising total.

  • Ask your local restaurant/bar to host a take it to the mat event, invite your friends and colleagues and split the cover/bar.
  • Use your talents and ask for donations – i.e. host a cooking class, put on a concert.
  • Garage sale
  • Create workplace events – lunch sales, bake sales, yoga class at lunch, contests and competitions.
